Grill-Mato 5K Returns This Weekend as Buffalo Runner of the Year Series Event

The 6th Annual Grill-Mato 5K returns to Orchard Park this week, bringing together runners, families, and local supporters for one of Buffalo’s most anticipated winter races. This year’s event is proudly part of the Buffalo Runner of the Year Series, giving participants the opportunity to compete in a recognized local race while supporting a meaningful cause.

Known for its fun, welcoming atmosphere and cozy post-race reward of grilled cheese and tomato soup, the Grill-Mato 5K continues to be a standout winter event for runners of all levels. Beyond the miles, the race benefits FeedMore WNY, an organization dedicated to fighting hunger across Western New York.

In support of this mission, non-perishable food donations are now being accepted at Runner’s Roost Orchard Park and East Amherst locations, with donations welcome now through race day. Community members are encouraged to stop by and contribute, even if they are not participating in the race.

Race registration remains open, though spots are limited as race weekend approaches. The Grill-Mato 5K also features age-group awards, overall and masters awards, a kids race, and a lively post-race celebration — making it a full community event that blends fitness, fun, and giving back.

The 6th Annual Grill-Mato 5K takes place this weekend in Orchard Park, and organizers look forward to welcoming runners and supporters for another memorable year.
